Round Up of Rugby World Cup 2015!
Now that Halloween is done and dusted, so is the Rugby World Cup 2015. Over 120 million of us tuned in to watch the final on Saturday 31st October, which saw New Zealand, win victory. England 2015 has been one of the most competitive, socially-engaged and nail-biting tournaments to date.
Daniel Carter was named World Rugby player of the Year 2015 at the awards ceremony at Battersea Evolution in London on Sunday, 1st November. He joined his All Blacks captain Richie McCaw as a three-time recipient of the prestigious accolade. He was also provided the same title in 2005 and 2012.
New Zealand were also named World Rugby Team of the Year after becoming the first nation to successfully defend the Webb Ellis Cup with a 34-17 defeat of Australia in the World Cup 2015 final on 31st October 2015.
The last six weeks have been filled with many highs and lows for all participating nations, but what have been the most memorable moments of the Rugby World Cup 2015? Below is just a handful that we believe to be some of the top moments during the event.
1. When The Haka took place, we were all in awe: Ka mate! Ka mate! Ka ora! Ka ora! Ka mate! Ka mate! Ka ora! Ka ora! Tenei Te Tangata, Puhuru huru, Nana nei tiki mai, Whakawhiti te ra, A upa ne ka up ane, Upane, Kaupane, Whiti te ra
2. Bernard Foley had triumph during the event as he dived over the line to score his second try, as he racked up 28 of Australia’s points in a 33-13 victory, knocking the hosts out of the tournament.
3. Lastly, we all got a little teary as Florin Surugiu proposed to his girlfriend after the defeat by Ireland. His team mates stood behind him to cheer him on as Alexandra said yes!
Now all that is left to do until the next World Cup, is wind down with a bottle from our selective range of New Zealand white wines.
