Argentinian Wines
The Argentine wine industry is the fifth leading producer of wine in the world. Argentine winemakers used to be more interested in the quantity of wine as opposed to the quality of the wine and until the early 1990's Argentina produced more wine than any other country outside Europe, however most it was considered unexportable
Tiburcio Benegas established the El Trapiche vineyard in the late 1800s when he brought the first French vine stock to Argentina. He expanded the vineyard with dams and irrigation which led to the creation of the Mendoza wine industry. This is now regarded as the most prestigious in all Argentina.
