Chilean Wines
Over the last 10 years wine production in Chile has excelled. In 1995 there were only 12 wineries; this has developed to over 70 by 2005. They stretch over seven hundred miles north to south in a series of lush valleys between the Andes and the Coastal Ranges. The climate in Chile is midway between California and France. The most common grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Camenere.
There is an enormous array of inexpensive Chilean wine which are great value for money.
