Marseille and Nice Euro 2016 - Schedule and Wine Types from Provence
The South of France is a famed area of the world that is regarded for its fine weather, excellent wine and wonderful coast line. The region in focus that relates directly to the Euro 2016 France Football Match Venues and of course, the incredible wine growing region of Provence, Marseille and Nice are firm French favourites when it comes to travelling, drinking wine and enjoying football.
Marseille
Known to be the second largest city in France, Marseille is located along the south coast. It is a historically important trading centre for the region and was once the main commercial port of the French Empire. Of the Mediterranean coast, Marseille is the largest port that deals with commerce, freight and cruise ships.
Thanks to its rich offerings in beaches, history, architecture and cultural activities, Marseille is one of the most visited cities in France. Marseille is set to offer sunny weather and fantastic wines for those that go along to visit the Euro 2016 fixtures, of which are as follows:
11/06/16, 21.00: England v Russia
15/06/16, 21.00: France v Albania
18/06/16, 18.00: Iceland v Hungary
21/06/16, 18.00: Ukraine v Poland
Nice
Located around 200km along the Mediterranean coast in the east direction, Nice is the fifth most populous city in France and is located just 8 miles from Monaco. Its rich soils and pleasant climate makes for a great climate to grow (and enjoy) wines.
Its developed tourism industries mean that Nice is extremely welcoming of visitors, with a huge range of restaurants and tourist attractions to keep visitors occupied. The obvious climate and seaside location mean that seaside activities are enjoyed widely. Those that visit Nice during the Euro 2016 fixtures can enjoy:
12/06/16, 18.00: Poland v Northern Ireland
17/06/16, 21.00: Spain v Turkey
22/06/16, 21.00: Sweden v Belgium
Wine from Provence
Wine has been made in this region for over 2600 years, practically making them wine growing experts. The wine from here is widely known for its array of rose types, though some argue that the red wines made here have a certain spice that makes them a special wine.
The main grape variety throughout Provence is Mourvèdre, which is primarily used across their red and rose wines. There are in this region over 1000 types of wines made, with many often blended with Grenache and Cinsault.
Good Wine Online provide a wide range of French Red Wine and Rose Wines that are not only tasty and authentic, but are low in sulphites, so you can forget about dealing with a sore head the day after.
