The Webb Ellis Cup Arrives in England!
The Webb Ellis Cup has arrived in England and has kicked off the beginning of the Trophy Tour in the country by visiting Cornwall, Perranporth and Isles of Scilly. The Trophy Tour is a 100-day event and the arrival in England marks the start of a 75 day tour leading up to the beginning of the Rugby World Cup 2015 that will commence on 18th September 2015.
With numerous teams from around the world participating, we’ve been celebrating of course with our favourite wines. Therefore kick back and relax with a glass of Italian white wine, organic wine or even a glass of champagne if you really want to treat yourself.
Jason Leonard OBE, RFU President and Rugby World Cup 2003 winner was the first to get his hands on the Webb Ellis Cup when it arrived in England, from Wales. He joined the Cornish Pirates for a rugby training session from the Five Island School on the Isles of Scilly, before taking a short helicopter ride to the Eden project in Cornwall.
The Webb Ellis Cup has been travelling the world for the last 25 days before reaching England, entering Japan, Australia, Fiji, Madagascar, South Africa, Argentina, Uruguay, USA, Hong Kong & China, Italy, Romania, Canada, Germany and finally France. It’s been a fantastic couple weeks, but we have lots more to look forward to!
The teams are currently going through strict training sessions up until the big games, and you can view the agenda in our recent post, Let the Training Begin for the Rugby World Cup 2015. We’re very excited for what the next couple of months have to offer and we hope you are too!
Be sure to keep coming back for updates on events, results and other Rugby World Cup 2015 news during the countdown to the big day.
