The RBS 6 Nations Celebrates Great Success!
After a little over a month of tremendous anticipation, game after game, the Six Nations has come to an end. Ireland celebrates consecutive RBS 6 Nations titles for the first time in 66 years, creating a finish like no other. We've all celebrated throughout the event with our favourite wines from white to red wine, or perhaps some Champagne.
Millions across the globe began to wonder whether the RBS 6 Nations had exhausted every chance of bringing the event to a climactic finale, but the Rugby’s Greatest Championship proceeded to surpass itself. The final round with all three matches, were all played on the same day which lived up to its deserving name of ‘Super Saturday’.
Up first was Wales who were third with a points-difference of 12, against Italy in Rome. Ireland, who was second with a points-difference of 33, went out next against Scotland at Murrayfield. Lastly England who were first with a points-difference of 37, played against France at Twickenham.
In the space of four hours the leadership table had changed twice and came very close to changing a third time. Wales ensured that Ireland would have to do a lot more to make up the points-difference of four on England. Under Sam Warburton's on-field command, the Red Dragons set the tone for what was to follow with the first sensation - 47 points in 26 second-half minutes.
For George North, a tournament which began with a double knock-out either side of half-time against England ended in the glory of a ten-minute hat-trick, which was the first by a Welshman in the championship since Maurice Richards got four against England 46 years ago.
The entire duration of the RBS 6 Nations has brought a whole variety of events together from dramatic results to an amazing finish for Ireland. Now we eagerly await the Rugby World Cup 2015 to commence in September. Take a look at our most recent post for news on what events will be going on across the UK during the build up to the Rugby World Cup 2015.
