Argentinian Football Team 2010
A team with a strong record in the World Cup, Argentina are twice winners of the torunament and are making their 14th apperance in the finals, reaching the final four times. They first won the tournament in 1978 on their home soil, beating the Netherlands 3-1 in the final. Their next success was in Mexico 1986, where Diego Maradona single handedly beat England in the quarter finals, before leading them to victory against a surprise outfit in Belgium in the Semi-Finals, and then West-Germany in the finals.
Diego Maradona leads the team again in 2010, although this time as coach of a very talented squad. It may be surprising to learn that even with players such as Mascherano & Messi in the squad, Argentina struggled in qualification of the 2010 tournament, only sealing qualification in the last game, with a 1-0 win against Uruguay in Montevideo.
Despite this trouble, they were still seeded for the World Cup draw, and being drawn in a group with Nigeria, South Korea & Greece they must surely fancy their chances to progress in the tournament.
